Anna Seidl, University of Amsterdam. « Angles in Ruins: Women’s Intimate Rhetorics in Ukrainian Trauma and War Narratives » (en anglais)
Dr. Anna Seidl examines how contemporary Ukrainian women writers use life writing as an intimate rhetoric of war, transforming autobiographical witnessing into a vehicle for ethical positioning, national self-fashioning, and transnational address. Focusing on Viktoria Amelina’s posthumously published Looking at Women, Looking at War. A War and Justice Diary (2025) and Katja Petrowskaja’s photo-columns in Das Foto schaute ich an (2022) and Als wäre es vorbei (2025), Dr. Anna Seidl argues that their hybrid, genre-crossing forms stage a specifically intimate proximity to trauma that both documents violence and authorizes a new Ukrainian ethos of dignity, heroism, and resilience.
Dr. Anna Seidl, a former principal dancer of the HNB (Het National Ballet, Amsterdam), is Assistant Professor at the Department of German Language and Culture at the University of Amsterdam. Her field of research covers various areas of literary and cultural studies. She works on topics related to memory studies, visual cultures, life narratives and narratological structures in political/cultural discourses. She is currently involved in an EU-funded Horizon project on East-West (European) perceptions. Her work has been published by Oxford University Press and Amsterdam University Press, among others.

Dans Wo der Name wohnt, son premier roman paru en 2025 aux éditions Suhrkamp, Ricarda Messner tisse l’histoire de sa famille entre Berlin et Riga. Elle y évoque le lieu de ses souvenirs, revient sans cesse au quotidien dans deux appartements, aborde les pertes et les vides, et relie le présent au passé. En tant que narratrice, elle cherche également une forme de multilinguisme pour parler avec ses propres morts, plutôt que de raconter leur histoire. Pour Wo der Name wohnt, l’écrivaine a obtenu la bourse Alfred-Döblin ainsi que le prix littéraire de Fulda.
Ricarda Messner (1989) vit et travaille à Berlin. Elle est cofondatrice et éditrice de la revue Flaneur, dont chaque numéro explore une ville à partir d’une seule rue. Dans une polyphonie multilingue et interdisciplinaire, la revue met en lumière des liens et des continuités souvent négligés ou effacés.
