DESCRIPTION:Une séance de présentation-discussion du dossier "Letters to Swift" est prévue\, dans le cadre du thème « Swift » du LERMA (programme C dirigé par Laurence Sterritt)\, le lundi 21 février de 16h30 à 18h00. \n\n\n\nLe dossier\, coordonné par Ruth Menzies et Jean Viviès et paru dans la revue E-Rea 18.2 (2021) est disponible à l’adresse suivante : https://journals.openedition.org/erea/11317  \n\n\n\nLes contributeurs sont\, outre les responsables du dossier : Nathalie Bernard\, Chloé Beccaria\, Amélie Derome\, Elodie Galiana-Camarena\, Grégoire Lacaze\, Mireille Ozoux\, Emmanuelle Peraldo\, Ian Sansom et Nathalie Zimpfer. Le dossier est complété par un essai de Claude Rawson. DESCRIPTION:Joshua Schuster (University of Western Ontario) : "Images of Extinction""The science of extinction arose in the nineteenth century at the same time as the development of the technology of photography. This talk examines how the destruction of the bison in North America became the first extinction event to be captured by photography. The visual evidence supplied by this extinction event has since played an important context and influence on subsequent photography of 'last animals' facing extinction.
